Any person in Virginia considering marriage should pay attention to the seemingly endless wave of celebrity marriages that are dissolving. If they are any indication, it may be wise for individuals to sign a prenuptial agreement so that the division of assets that occurs during a divorce is more favorable, perhaps for both parties.

One such divorce -- that between the well-known NBA player Kobe Bryant and his wife, Vanessa -- is currently giving many plenty of good reasons to draft a prenuptial agreement before making vows of marriage to one another. According to the basketball player's mother-in-law, the two did not have a prenup in place and they were married for about 10 years.

Estimates have placed Bryant's net worth around $150 million. Due to the lack of a prenuptial agreement, the divorce will likely see his assets split in half. He will keep one portion while his soon-to-be ex-wife gets the other. Both portions -- if the estimates are correct -- will be worth $75 million each.

Already, three pieces of property have been transferred from husband to wife. Those properties have an estimated value near $19 million. Two of the properties were placed in Vanessa Bryant's name in mid-December. The other followed suit around New Year's Eve.

That transfer, even with such an impressive value, is likely just the beginning of Kobe Bryant's financial woes. On top of the estimated $75 million that his wife will receive, it is very likely that alimony and child support requirements will be placed on the famous basketball player.

Vanessa Bryant filed for divorce in December and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason the marriage was ending.
